Students continued learning about racism, civics, and debates today. 

Students learned the definition of civics today: Civics is being a citizen. It means knowing what's going on in the world and doing something to make it a better place.

With that definition in mind, students thought about how they would 1) make IAL a better place and 2) make the world a better place.

Students brainstormed ways they could actually change IAL, such as protests, petitions, or marches, to change things such as the dress code, school lunch, or the cell phone policy.

Students then brainstormed ways that protesters should act in Ferguson, MI in response to the unrest there and throughout the US. Would violent or non-violent protests be best?
