Objective

Practice determining the main idea of an article.

Mini-lesson
Your reading assignment is to continue working on main idea. Remember, main idea is usually one sentence that tells what the passage is mostly about. It's one sentence that summarizes the whole article that you read.

There are implicit main ideas. These are when you need to figure out what the main idea is, and the passage will not directly tell you what the main idea is. Here is an example.

There are explicit main ideas. These are when the passage will have one sentence that tells you exactly what the main idea is. Here is an example.

Today's assignment

Read the review of Frindle from amazon.com which you can see here.

Everybody should answer the same questions, which you can get to here

What you'll be graded on

  1. Have you answered the question?
  2. Did you write complete sentences?
What should my answer look like?

Take a look at Egan's awesome answer from a couple weeks ago! Make sure your answer for today is as good as Egan's was yesterday.
